Why ash?

You're probably all wondering why ash is our choice of wood.

Ash was the original wood used in golf (before hickory hit our shores from the US). Typically used in construction, ash is also used in sporting equipment (oars, hockey sticks, baseball bats) thanks to its unique properties of being lightweight yet strong.

It’s classified as a hardwood and sits in the upper echelons of the hardness ratings. As a result of its hardness and increased density, ash is largely shock resistant explaining why it's often chosen for hockey sticks and baseball bats.

A further benefit of ash is that, despite it’s increased density and hardness, it is also relatively lightweight meaning it doesn’t weigh your golf bag down when carrying.

All in all, it's a fantastic material and one we feel should have it's day in the sun.
